Trust → Custody — who holds what

Custody — who holds what

Short answer: nobody at BeeFi does.

The non-custodial model

When someone says a platform is "non-custodial", they mean it never takes possession of user funds or the means to move them. BeeFi is built on that principle from the ground up:

  • Bitcoin never sits in a BeeFi account. Investor payments go into structures that the Bitcoin network itself enforces. There is no BeeFi wallet holding the pooled funds — that is the entire point of the design.
  • Keys stay with their owners. Founders keep the signing authority for their side of the system in their own hands and their own infrastructure. Investors keep their own Bitcoin and their own shares in their own custody. The venue handles coordination and verification, not possession.
  • The venue cannot move what it doesn't hold. Even if an operator wanted to run off with funds, there is no single point — no omnibus wallet, no admin override, no database row — that could redirect a committed payment or a delivered share. The protections are structural, not procedural.

What this means in practice

Question Answer
Where do my raised funds sit? In Bitcoin-based structures with rules committed in advance.
Who can release a milestone? Only the defined approvers, each time, under the committed rules.
What if BeeFi disappears? Your assets and their histories remain yours and verifiable. The venue is a coordinator, not a vault.
Do I have to trust BeeFi? You have to trust the rules you agreed to. Everything checkable.

The honest trade-off

Non-custody is a strength with a price: responsibility stays with you. There is no support desk that can reset your keys, no custodian to call if your signing setup is compromised. You must protect your own keys, follow the venue's security guidance, and understand that self-custody means self-responsibility. This is a different (and, we believe, a better) bargain than "we hold it for you" — but it is not a free one.

What BeeFi does hold

Only what coordination requires: your account identity, verification status, listing preferences, and the public, agreed terms of rounds. Not secrets. Not funds. Not unilateral power over either.
